FOR GENERAL RELEASE

Dian Holland, Honor Flight Dayton RV Trip Coordinator is looking for female WWII and Korean Veterans to travel for an upcoming trip in August of this year, leaving from Springfield, Ohio.

The trip involves a three day trip to Washington D.C. to visit the WWII, Korean and several other memorials by way of RV.  The trip leaves on a Friday morning and the group returns on the following Sunday about 5:30 P.M.  Veterans and guardians stay in a hotel Friday and Saturday night and travel into D.C. by deluxe motor coach.  Stops include WWII, Korean, Viet Nam, Iwo Jima memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.  If we have female veterans we stop at the Women's Memorial located inside the ANC grounds.  The complete trip is at no cost to our veterans.

We take veterans from any location in Ohio or surrounding states if they can get to our departure point.  There is one exception and that would be any veterans living in the Columbus area.  We do have one motor home leaving from New Albany and can take four veterans from the Columbus area.  We usually take 20 to 24 veterans and have 5 to 6 large motor homes traveling in the convoy.

The three day trip is an excellent venue for veteran couples or veteran friends who would like to travel together to see their memorial.  Our RV drivers are experienced drivers and dedicated guardians who all make this a trip of a lifetime for our senior veteran heroes.

Eligibility dates for the honor flight trip for WWII veterans are 12-7-41 thru 12-31-46.  For Korean veterans the dates are 6-27-50 thru 1-31-55.  Even though we provide wheelchairs throughout the weekend, we do ask that veterans for this trip be fairly ambulatory  i.e., able to get in and out of a motor home and bus several times throughout the weekend with some assistance and able to stay in a hotel for two nights with minimal assistance.  We do have an RN traveling with us and guardians assist with general needs for the veterans.

We are looking for female veterans to fill these trips and I hope you will be able to assist us and those veterans who have not been able, for whatever reason, to travel to D.C. to visit their memorial.

Thank you for your time and hopefully, your assistance in locating female veterans for this trip.

I want you to be aware of a gathering that is being planned in our area. It is called the Ohio Shale Veterans Conference II.

The event is being set up to bring together local Oil and Gas employers that are actively searching for veterans.

The event is being planned for Friday, February 28, 2014 from 10AM to 2PM near Hopedale, Ohio.

Ideally, we hope to get between 6 and 10 employers at the... event and we will have room for 60 to 100 veterans.

From the first Oil and Gas Industry conference we know the industry values:

1) Veterans with a "can do" attitude
2) Those with a mechanical background and have a record of working safely
3) Vets that are physically fit, willing to work hard for work long hours and familiar with an austere work environment
4) Are willing and able to travel throughout the area
5) Have the ability to learn new things quickly

You must have a valid drivers license, be insurable and be able to pass a multi panel drug screening.

This your invitation to attend. There are no guarantees of employment, but I believe this is an excellent opportunity to network with other veterans, learn about opportunities in the emerging and Oil and Gas Industry and be able to speak with representatives of the companies that may be hiring in the near future.

Mark your calendar and let me know you're planning to attend by return email. I will send you information detailing companies attending and where the conference will be held.

If you know a veteran that would benefit attending this conference, please feel free to forward this information. Please address any questions concerning this opportunity to me and feel free to contact me anytime.
